Callvan Hire position themselves to help save money for cash strapped businesses

Callvan Hire believe rising fuel and other associated costs may encourage more and more companies to trade down and use contract hire rather than maintain expensive vehicle fleets of their own.

A survey by the Federation of Small Businesses in Dorset and Hampshire this week said 80 per cent of companies believe rising fuel costs will make difficult for them to expand.

Callvan Hire is a Dorset/Hampshire based self-drive van Hire Company serving business and individuals from Bournemouth to Southampton, which has recently re-branded, established since 1987

“Our rates are still the best you can find in the South West. We are a local family-run business and pride ourselves on the quality of our vehicles, the quality of our customer service and the fact that we don’t just bump up our prices the minute everyone else does.

We recently undertook some market research and found we were still the best priced van hire business in the area.” Said David Bundy MD of Callvan Hire

“The van hire market has been a major growth sector in the past few years as more people decide to do things themselves, like moving home,” he explained.

“There’s a lot of doom and gloom around, especially in anything to do with the transportation industry, but I am looking on the positive side.”

David, 47, believe rising fuel and other associated costs may encourage more and more companies to trade down and use contract hire rather than maintain expensive vehicle fleets of their own.

A survey by the Federation of Small Businesses in Dorset and Hampshire this week said 80 per cent of companies believe rising fuel costs will make difficult for them to expand.
Ringwood-born David and wife Debbie set up Callvan Hire in 1992.

“The van hire market is extremely competitive and there are some big national players out there, but we see ourselves as offering something different,” said David.

“We still believe the personal touch is what matters in business and we think a reliable, friendly local service marks us out.

“We are really investing heavily in the company because we believe in it and we offer a very customer - driven service.

“Our customers know that if there’s a problem, it will probably be the managing director or his wife who sorts it out.

Callvan Hire’s vehicles are modern, boasting features such as CD player, electric windows, advanced braking system and heated windscreen. They are also spotlessly clean inside and out.

The fleet ranges from Transits to seven and half tonne trucks, flatbeds and tippers and specialist refrigerated vehicles for transporting food, flowers, pharmaceuticals and other perishable products.

The company offers a free delivery service for corporate clients and Callvan Hire’s two-vehicle delivery truck runs on bio fuel.

Even though CVH has a hard won local reputation, David refuses to sit back and take things easy.

“I always want to put myself under pressure to improve what we do. We’ve no intention of standing still.”
